THERMOFORMING PROCESSES FOR AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR
The experience gained over the years has allowed A.P. Form S.p.A. to establish stable business relationships with leading Companies in the automotive sector, a sector that over the years has increasingly intensified the use of plastic.
One of the advantages of thermoforming is allowing a serial production without give up more modern aesthetic lines, in step with the needs of the moment.
This is the case of a leading Company in the production of truck components that turned to A.P. Form precisely to meet the needs of its customers and sales: it was thus able to carry out a search for more performing materials with a view to efficiency and containment of production costs.
The Customer made his own fiberglass component and was looking for a thermoforming supplier who was able to develop a tailor-made executive project internally. This is how the technical department of A.P. Form S.p.A. developed and created the draft of the mold to allow the creation of the piece, studied the most suitable rays to obtain the finished product, combining everything with a more current aesthetic.
After the design phase, we moved on creating a prototype that obtained the Customer's approval.
In about 30 days A.P. Form S.p.A. has managed to give a real form to the Customer's idea.
Over the following 45 days, we then made the aluminum mold, created the cutting program and the relevant templates, thus starting the serial and final production of the component.
In the phase of choosing the material, different types of plastics have been proposed, in different colors and various finishes in order to try to combine the customer's production needs with a more current aesthetic.
Thanks to the technical-design development of A.P. Form S.p.A., the Customer abandoned fiberglass and switched to ABS PMMA plastic material, obtaining:
- cost containment
- improvement of aesthetics.
